Try starting your watch with gloves on and you'll probably get into the same mess as me. Ran the above half in around 1.37.13ish. Had a couple of goes at getting the Garmin started -- I'm blaming the gloves, but my ineptitude with watches is well known !!! So official time to follow. Nonetheless I had a great run. Most runners took off far too fast on the first mile -- I ran with a snall group of Bellas including Emma and Karlyn. The first mile was around 7.00 minutes -- too fast, so I reined in and the next few miles were 7.19; 728; 7.31; 7.20; 7.22; 7.27; 7.26; 7.27. Dropped below seven and a half from mile 9-10; 7.36 here. Back on the pace for the next three miles 7.28; 7.24; 7.19. The last .2 took me 58 seconds. Used my old Garmin 101 to check the pace and analyse afterwards -- but really just judged the pace by the way I felt -- it seemed to work. PS: The Bella ladies won first team prize and Kenny Richmond also picked up an award. Thanks to Bellas Richard and Brendan for great encouragement out on the course -- can't wait to see the photos fellas. Also nice to see my old mate Ian Goudie out giving his usual vocal support to the many runners from a range of clubs that he knows.
