Great day out today at Strathclyde Park for the St Andrew's Hospice 10k. 2600 runners -- 1300 of them from a variety of schools in Lanarkshire and beyond -- took part. Finished in a respectable 44.47. Not record-breaking but steady enough given the year I've had. Perfect weather for running. I met a few chums from Achilles Heel -- great also to see David Ho and Louise from the Bellahouston circuit class. Perfect weather for running and well -organised race although I have a notion the first kilometre mark was in the wrong place. I got a fright when I reached it as my watch was at almost five minutes. I speeded up and hit the next kilometre at around 8.00 minutes so something was amiss -- but I was well on target with about 12.30 at kilometre three. A lot of young inexperienced runners there and I was able to give some support and advice to one youngster who was dying in the last couple of km. He got over the line and even managed a sprint finish which was more than I could muster --well I AM old enough to be his grandad.
