Continued improvement today in the Jack Crawford 10k. My time of 44.12 was almost 30 " better than my last outing, the Nigel Barge. Good conditions for running, though the course was very muddy underfoot and there was a bit of a problem with wind for part of the way. Finished ahead of Ian and a good bit behind Tom in the Bella supervets contest. Lots of good support again and thanks to Danielle for the picture.

Disappointment
Two good days training this week -- a steady 7 miles with the club on Monday and a good hard treadmill speed session on Wednesday. Couldn't get away from work in time to do the club session -- hopefully fit for the Jack Crawford on Saturday. The bad news is that due to work commitments I can't run the the Balloch to Clydebank half but I am working that weekend in Dundee so I can't do it. I need a sponsor !!! The Trimpell 20 is the following week so that's still a possibility.
PS I'm now working on the 15th as well so Trimpell is out:-(

The Road to.....
Just back from a nice break at our favourite holiday village Ribby Hall at Wrea Green, Near St Anne's which included an interesting visit to Wigan Pier -- originally a coal loading jetty on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Fascinating area but sadly the museum there seems to have closed. Made famous by George Orwell of course -- details for the interested can be found here. http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/ll/wiganpier.htm Haven't had time to report on the Nigel Barge 10k so by popular demand from my readers -- well my big pal Ian Goudie actually - here's it is. Was not sure whether or not to run this year as I have been out with a bad chest infection, and it is a club championship race but my encouraging result at Cambuslang made up my mind to have a go. Great conditions for racing I have to say and I felt good. Started just a little too fast -- again !! The first mile completed in 6.45. Quite deliberately slowed down and tucked myself in behind a pack comprising Richard Leyton, Tom McMillan and Ian Goudie. Hung on to their coat tails until the last 2k and began to pick up the pace, managed to pass Tom on the flat stretch alongside Dawsholm Tip, but struggled on the short sharp hill leading to Maryhill Road. Tom overhauled me there, but I dug in and managed to pass him again in the closing stages. Had Ian in my sights but he held on and finished 5 seconds ahead of me - Tom was about 3 seconds behind me. Final result 44.44. Great support from Bellas all the way round. Special mention to Katie and Scott on their bikes and Terry, who was marshalling, for fabulous support. The battle of the Bella supervets continues at Bishopbriggs on Saturday with the Jack Crawford 10k.
