Latest injury news. I managed a spin class on Monday before I realised the rib was cracked. Wednesday morning another spin class without too much pain. Friday I'll try my normal circuit class -- scaled down. Saturday a little body pump again with much lighter weights. I'm trying not to lose too much fitness using spinfit, cross trainer in the gym and light bodypump classes to keep me going. The doc says it's alright to train-- it won't do any damage -- it'll just hurt like hell for a few weeks. I should be back to full training by the end of July. Which will give me 10 weeks preparation for the Dublin Marathon . I'm reasonably fit at the moment so all my concentration is going to be on losing as little fitness as possible. These things are sent to try us !!

VALE OF LEVEN 10K
Anne, Kathleen and I ran the last in the Polaroid series of 10k road races at Vale of Leven on Sunday 19th June. Anne and I finished in just over 45 and a half minutes despite me having a disastrous fall at 8k. Conditions were tricky with a lot of surface water -- indeed rain had been so heavy that parts of the route were flooded and the start had to be changed. One of the puddles successfully hid a pothole which I managed to find with my foot and I came down heavily. Many thanks to Anne for getting me back up again and seeing me across the finish line. Kathleen finished in around 50 minutes.NORMAN
PS The casualty department of the local hospital confirmed that I have a possible cracked rib. 4 - 6 weeks to heal, but the doctor says I can still train -- it'll just hurt.
