Missed By a Mile - well several hundred yards anyway !!!

My campaign to break 42.00 in a 10k continues after a dissapointing 42.36 at the Jim Dingwall 10k in Grangemouth. 19" slower than last year. Thought I was on for it but slowed significantly between 5 and 6 miles -- 7.07-- and that's what cost me the result. Tactically I ran the first mile too fast at 6.24 but pulled back and was bang on target at 5k, still pretty much on target at 5 miles but I suspect the fast start took its toll. Anecdotal impression is that most folks times were down on what they expected. It was also pretty windy but I think it was the pacing mistake at the start which cost me the result. Having said that is is still the bext 10k so far this year -- indeed the best result I have had at that distance since the same time last year. Onward and upward !!!!!
