Great turnout for the club's anniversary 10k. The event was named after Jimmy Irvine a founder member. So many people turned up at the last minute that the start had to be put back by half an hour. It's my first race since my injury so I decided to try for a sub-45. Ran the first kilometer in 4.15 -- just a little quick for my target -- settled back into the race and ran strongly throughout. Provisional time 44.57. Didn't stop my watch as I was too busy trying not to throw up but that seems a little slow. Met Paul, a very interesting barefoot runner from Ayrshire and we encouraged one another for the last three k or so. Found out later he's a member of Daily Mile -- small world. Great sprint finish at the end -- honours even -- though if there had been a tape I suspect Paul might have just broken it a fraction before me. Great feed afterwards. Photo -- male winner Steven Gilroy Ronhill Cambuslang, receiving his trophy from the famous Jimmy Irvine himself.
