Round the Houses

Ran the Grangemouth Round the Houses 10k in the pretty reasonable time of 44.49 today. Happy with the time -- given the difficulties I've been struggling with since Christmas. A fuller report to follow.
Well having had time to consider Sunday's events I'm still reasonably happy with the race. Spotted Bernie O'Neill from Bellahouston Harriers at the start and thought I might try to keep her in sight, but she has improved greatly since I last raced with her -- finishing in an incredible sub 42, so she pulled away early on. I also failed to start my watch successfully so I had no idea how fast I ran the first k. I got the watch going at the 2nd k, but I ran the race mainly on the basis of how I felt. Some great tussles along the way with other runners -- the majority of them I won, although a lady from Harmeny and a male vet 65, pulled away from me over the last 3k and I couldn't stay with them. Best fun of all was a great battle with David Wardrope from Calderglen, he pulled away from me in the last k and ended up beating me by 2" chip time. We had a chat afterwards and he told me he's a reader of Dosser and was able to use me as a pacemaker as he reckoned I would be running about 45'. Good to konw someone out there is interested in this apart from just me.
