Surrender to Love
Amazing what a little support will do to help achieve a posture which would otherwise be impossible. Malasana practice at the gym. Arguably one of the most useful things we can do in life to combat the tightening of the psoas muscles and the corresponding weakening of the gluteal muscles. Great for the hips and the lower back too. Getting the heels down is so difficult for many of us, but the support of a bungee rope at the gym makes this much more achievable. Ishvara pranidhana in action - letting go and accepting support - one of the key yogic principles - and for many of us one of the most difficult to practice, in life as well as on the mat. One translation describes this niyama as surrender to love. I like that. Be kind to yourself. Norman 🙏

First Run of the Year
First run of 2020. A gentle trot on the Forth and Clyde canal. Good to get back. Not done a lot of running recently, focussing much more on strength work at the gym and practising and teaching yoga. Need to get moving a little more though. Not looking to do the big distances anymore- I want to spend my time and energy elsewhere, but it’d be nice to run the odd 5k. Goal for the year.

Progress Pictures
A bit shy about these kind of pictures but interesting to see the changes in around 6 months of work in the gym. Bigger, chest, arms calves and improved posture. Perhaps carrying a little extra weight. That's ok. The pics on the left were shot in summer. On the right winter - a little extra padding is ok.

My Kind of Game
Just the most amazing game and accessorise for my old fashioned Wii. Complete with Paul McCartney’s Hoffner bass - fabulous.
Great Venue
Great venue for a yoga class. The Mackintosh Church at Queens Cross. Guest teaching for Mark Russell. Beautiful exhibition of Scottish women artists provided a fabulous backdrop.
