A lovely summer night for the Clydebank 10k this year. My first outing since taking to my bed with the sinus infection -- indeed my first run in 4 weeks. I may have pulled out of the Edinburgh Marathon, but that doesn't mean I can't race. A slow 47 minutes for so, but no matter I was out to run and enjoy myself. I ran the first 4k at my normal pace, but my lack of conditioning told and I slowed dramatically for the second half of the race. Had a great time and met lots of old friends. Some notable performances -- Anne Murray from Clydesdale sub 40; my old running mate Alan Whyte down somewhere around 38"; Leanne from the Donald Dewar Centre around 38" as well. I was also passed in the latter part of the race, by Marina, Kath and Cameron Black. Oh well I'll live to fight another day -- next time I'll tie their shoelaces together -- it's good to be back !!!
PS Ran the Dumbarton 10k the next Thursday. Bit of a bonus as I managed to finish work early. Funnily enough the time was almost the same -- 46.58.
