Rouken Glen 10k/Glasgow Men's 10k

Ran the Rouken Glen 10k on Thurs
day night in a slow 48.30 ish. First 5k was mostly uphill, completed in around 26.30. Second 5k mostly downhill, finished in 22. Leanne from the Donald Dewar Centre gort a prize for third lady and the ladies of the Clydesdale Harriers were also prizewinners. Ran in the first Glasgow Men's 10k on Saturday. Great day with around 1500 men taking part. Fabulous warm-up conducted with great aplomb by Lorraine from Bellahouston Sports Centre. Around a thousand men running slowly in a great circle was a sight to behold. Excelllent commentary by Brian Burnett and great encouragement from the crowds. Drizzly and cool, the weather was perfect for running, and the rain did not seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the spectators. Finished in around 46.57 (official times to be confirmed) -- funny that's almost exactly the same time as for the last two 10ks. It seems that switching horses mid-stream as it were -- going from training for a marathon to running 10ks -- my wee legs don't know how to go any faster. Speedwork. Speedwork. Speedwork !!!
