Jim Dingwall Memorial 10k
Also known as Round the Houses 10k, run at Grangemouth in what turned out to be very warm conditions. Started with 42.00 in mind but it was not to be on the day. My big pal Stevie paced me and we were well on target up to around 6k when the lack of water began to tell. It was a serious mistake for the organisers not to have at least one water station on the route. We grabbed a bottle from one of the spectators at around 7k and struggled on to the end. I May have missed my target but I did have enough left for a pretty decent sprint finish on the track. 43.13 my best 10k in several years Stevie coming in 2 seconds behind me. He was not racing this time and he had done 4 miles before the event -- he's in training for the London Marathon. I must confess to being a little disappointed -- perhaps I am setting my targets too high ????
