Girvan Half Marathon

Drove back from holiday in Cornwall yesterday in time to take part in the Girvan Half. Tough, hilly little race organised by the local running club. Great camaraderie, good organisation and lots of prizes made this a winner in my book. A slowish 1.40.57 -- a more than 4.00" slower than my last outing at that distance -- it was very hilly and I had planned it as a fast hard training session to get me back on to my marathon schedule after 10 days of no running at all -- combination of bad cold and holiday. Perhaps it was too ambitious a race to tackle -- but I fancy having another go -- better prepared this time -- next year. Good runs from my mates Tonya and Richard who both beat me to the line -- Claire Wharton was first lady and the girls won the team prize -- not a bad total on the day.
