Wet Wet Wet

A visit to the East coast for the Scottish Gas 10k a race of which I have fond memories and one I haven't raced for years. Torrential rain overnight had caused heavy surface water on the roads and the rain continued -- letting up a bit for the race. Strong wind in our faces on the way out, but it died to nothing on the way back. I recorded a fairly pedestrian 45.58. I started on target at 4.10 for the first k but I must be honest when we turned into the esplanade and the wind hit us -- I settled down into quite a manageable pace and didn't really push myself -- so nothing to complain about. Just happy to be racing again with no injury problems. Cheered on former Bellas Colin McGill and Paul McNally as they headed back after the turn. Organised well by Edinburgh AC we got a free bag, bottle and good technical T-shirt at the end of the race, and there was a water station at the turn. Couldn't help thinking Scottish Gas might have been a bit more hospitable. There was a tea room open at the end of the race -- but the security guard who asked me to leave told me it was for runners who worked for Scottish Gas only.
